Reporting requirements vary, depending on the office you seek and the state in which you run. Contact, or have your treasurer contact, your state affiliate to learn the details of what’s required for your race.
If you’re running for federal office (U.S. House, U.S. Senate, president or vice president), and you, or someone on your behalf, raises $5,000 or more, you must file various forms, campaign finance reports, and a financial disclosure form. Presidential candidates who meet certain criteria who raise less than $5,000 must also file certain forms. Details can be found here.
Be sure to note the deadlines and other details of the reporting requirements applicable to your campaign. Late, inaccurate, or incomplete reports can result in penalties or could prevent your name from appearing on the ballot.
